Carte Blanche

Ezequiel Méndez Vidal (Santiago de Compostela, 1941), who later developed his professional career in the publishing sector working for the Fondo de Cultura Económica, Alianza Editorial and the founding team of Instituto Cervantes, was a fundamental figure for cinephilia in Compostela. When he was a student, in addition to his work at the Cine-Club (which had 1,000 members in its second stage which functioned as a notable focal point of critical thinking during the Franco years) he wrote about films in La Noche and El Correo Gallego and was one of initiators of Equipo 64, with whom he has made several documentaries about Galicia and his hometown. With the intention of also fostering dialogue, Curtocircuíto has organised this Carte Blanche in collaboration with the current Cineclube de Compostela, founded in 2001 and heir in some ways of the initiative of Méndez and his contemporaries.
