Symphony for Urbanities - Playtronica

Symphony for Urbanities is an interactive musical performance. On a wooden platform covered with a thin layer of aluminum mesh there are 50 performers of different ages, from children to the elderly. When the audience member touches the performer, he hears a pre-recorded sample or a series of sounds. As soon as the touch stops, the music stops. Thus, the position of the viewer turns into the position of the performer. In order to create the right atmosphere, some viewers will play a predetermined sequence of sounds. Which would result in a music piece called Symphony for Urbanites.

This is homage to the experiments and research of Soviet avant-garde composers of the 1920s, working on a new sound era, music of industrialization, the noise of factories and rapidly developing cities, "The Horn Symphony" by Arseniy Avraamov, "Zavod. Music of Machines" by Alexander Mosolov, ballet " Bolt " by Dmitry Shostakovich and "Rails" by Vladimir Deshevov. From other side the experience is similar to urban sound walks, where spectators become active listeners, and the city turns into a set on noises, the soundtrack of a resident of a modern metropolis.
